Hi, and welcome to my His Mommy’s Homeschool blog and YouTube channel! I am so glad that you stopped by and I hope you decide to pull up a chair, grab some 2-3 times reheated coffee and stay for awhile;)
So umm.. who is “His?” and who is “His Mommy?”, you might be wondering lol, so let me introduce myself and my kiddos. I am a wife and momma of two boys who are currently 6 and 9 years old. They are “His” and I am “His Mommy”😜.
I am an “older mom”, and didn’t start having my children until I was in my late 30s. Before having kids I was in the military, and towards the end of my 20 year career my husband and I decided to start our family and we knew at that time that I would end my career so that I could stay home with our son full time . My first son was about a year and a half when I retired and I’ve been home with him and now also his brother ever since.
So how did you start homeschooling?
Well, so glad you asked. Years before having children I never dreamed or even thought that I would be homeschooling them one day, but early on when my first son was just a toddler, I would always read books and research on the internet about how to be a first time mom and how to care for my baby like most new mothers do. I would also research simple things like what and how to teach him his ABCs, numbers, colors, shapes etc. and while learning how to teach him I would run across videos about homeschooling and it occurred to me that I could and wanted to homeschool my children as well.
What is your blog and YouTube channel about?
Well due to my vast knowledge and expertise about children I want to teach and guide you about the proper way to homeschool your children…. Umm no, that is definitely NOT the reason that I started this blog 😜!! If you want to read a blog from a mom that has the organized and tidy homeschool room, starts school everyday at the exact same time, has a consistent morning routine and schedules everything in a planner then this blog might disappoint. If you are expecting me to tell you all about the most PERFECT curriculum and learning tools that you should use for your children, and how to keep them happy and totally engaged during learning time then I’m sorry Dear but no, then I’m not your girl!! If you want me to tell you all about how homeschooling my children is all fresh hot cups of coffee, yummy chocolate bars, time for afternoon naps and grammatically correct blog posts then THIS -BLOG- AIN’T -FOR -YOU!!
Ok, sorry to yell at you, let me bring it down a notch, I just want to warn you ahead of time so that you won’t be disappointed because I just want to keep it real. I have been homeschooling my children for over 7 years now and I am still figuring it out. Just like parenting there is no perfect way to homeschool your kid. So if you want to hear from a momma that is often faking it until she makes it, changes curriculum whenever she or her kids want to, rushing to figure out what she is going to teach 30 minutes before learning time begins and always researching, researching, researching… then I am SHE and SHE is ME 🙋🏾♀️! You do not have to have it all figured out, you do not have to be perfect and it is OK to make mistakes over here. I want to share my journey with you that includes the good AND the bad and what is or isn’t working for us. I want you see a real mom that has a messy house, often has no time for herself and deals with the same struggles and frustrations that you may be going through. I want you to find comfort in knowing that there are other mommas out here just trying to figure it out just like you because we love our kids and want the best for them. I also want to learn from you and am always curious about what other moms are doing in their homeschool and so that I can maybe try some new things in mine:)
